2019 Sauvignon Gris

Description

In 2002 we planted 1.6 acres of this wonderful grape in Rutherford, although this grape was primarily grown in Bordeaux and Chile. As it turns out the temperate Mediterranean climate and clay soils of our vineyard have allowed this grape to thrive. We loved this grape so much we planted more of it on our Estate vineyard in Rutherford in 2017 – it is now a five acre parcel. The wine has a delicate blend of floral and tropical aromas with a sturdy mid-palate. Usually this grape is used exclusively in our proprietary Elevage Blanc ultra-premium white blend. However the quality of the fruit is so extraordinary, we can’t resist bottling a little Sauvignon Gris on its own to show its individual beauty.

The 2019 vintage of Sauvignon Gris was fermented in stainless steel tank at very cold temperatures (45-50F). After primary fermentation the wine was moved to stainless barrels and some were stirred for several weeks. The lees contact lends a deep richness and body to this wine.

Aroma: Aromatically this wine overflows with aromas of peach, with added notes of citrus, and some hints of floral.
Flavor: This wine shows bright acidity which is enveloped by seamless texture and lush midi-palate.
