Wine and photography seem to be siblings. Photos are a literal snapshot of a moment, a singular time and place that, by definition, will not happen again. So too with this wine, made from a single vintage, from a single site, and enjoyed during a single moment in time. Tomahawk Vineyard is a cooler site located at the southern-most point of our Estate which offers a diverse array of soils. In 2018, Mother Nature gifted us with perfect, albeit cooler, weather for the harvest — warm days and cool nights. This allowed tanninsto perfectly ripen in the skins and seeds, while preserving beautiful acidity and lower sugars, which resonated well for the age worthiness and balance of the vintage. At Chimney Rock, we are not looking for consistency. We are striving for authenticity and clarity of vision. We are humble photographers, using our passion and experience to create an indelible image of time and place. Enjoy this singular creation from 2018.
AROMA: This wine is generous and complex with aromas of cherry cola, cassis and chocolate. Some savory notes and hints of citrus zest and mint. This wine is intensely aromatic and develops in the glass as layers are revealed.
FLAVOR: This full-bodied wine is powerful yet exhibits grace and finesse. A rich and dense mid-palate evolves into a muscular and graceful finish
