2014 Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District
2014 Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District
Description
At Chimney Rock a diversity of clonal selections has been planted throughout the Estate to explore different attributes of Cabernet Sauvignon and ensure complexity in our wines. Clonal selections of grapevines are a very important part of viticulture and although the term implies genetic “tinkering” let us assure you that there is no such thing when it comes to winegrowing. Most clonal selections result from propagating (breeding by natural processes from the parent stock) grapevines that have desirable characteristics such as small berries, loose clusters, deep color or particular aromas. A vintner can then propagate these characteristics from a mother vine via grafting or cuttings in the field. Our Kairos Vineyard Clone 4 selection is a standout from many viewpoints. The clusters are small and loose with berries that are miniscule and densely concentrated. Join us is celebrating diversity among our vines!
