2013 Omega Point Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District

The pinnacle of the expression of our Estate, and the maximum level of quality achievable in a given year.

Description

In the late 1800's a French philosopher by the name of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin conceived the idea of the Omega Point - which he defined as "a maximum level of complexity and consciousness towards which he believed the universe was evolving." This concept or idea inspired our winemaking team to create a wine that represented the pinnacle of the expression of our Estate, the maximum level of quality achievable in a given year.

At Chimney Rock we are committed to releasing our wines only when they are perfectly vibrant and open. Usually, our Cabernet Sauvignons require at least a year or two of bottle age but occasionally there are exceptions. The 2013 Omega Point Cabernet Sauvignon was one of these exceptions. This wine bottled in June of 2015 required extra cellar time for release – three years to be exact. We made 105 cases of this extraordinary wine and the delayed gratification has paid off. The 2013 vintage delivered wines of massive structure and exquisite complexity and our 2013 Omega Point is the quintessential representation of this phenomenal vintage.

Tasting Notes:
This wine is rich with blackberry, cassis and mocha aromas along with hints of vanilla and clove. On the palate, it is very full bodied and powerful with silky supple tannins and a long round finish.
