Chimney Rock Young Vines Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District 2009
This Cabernet Sauvignon offers an exciting preview of our next great vineyard-designated wine, exhibiting the trademark power and elegance that are hallmarks of Chimney Rock.
As a general rule, newly-planted grapevines require four to five years to produce fruit at a quality level acceptable for top-level winemaking. At Chimney Rock, we devote many additional years to fine-tuning vines before their fruit grows into an optimal expression of the Stags Leap District. On rare occasion, these “young vines” are early achievers, and we create a special bottling to showcase the wine produced from this fruit. This Young Vines Cabernet Sauvignon offers an exciting preview of our next great vineyard-designated wine. Planted in 2002, the wine created from this compelling location already exhibits the trademark power and elegance that are hallmarks of Chimney Rock.
In 2009, we were blessed with another dry spring, and beautiful temperate weather throughout the growing season. The few late rains had little effect on our intensely flavored and elaborately ripe, yet balanced, fruit.
