The last time we bottled Merlot by itself was the 2002 Vintage. In 2011, a very challenging vintage, Merlot became one of our secret weapons to make great wine. Merlot ripens earlier than Cabernet Sauvignon, and the very cool weather of 2011 was not as impactful on the ripening of this Bordeaux variety. Merlot in all of our blocks ripened generously so we decided to honor its strength and beauty by bottling a small amount on its own.Aroma: Aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, cassis and a hint of mocha and sage.
Palate: On the palate, this wine shows finesse, balance, and roundness in the mid-palate with a lovely long finish.
